Kingdombuy.com: Wal-Mart Fumbles, Then Recovers

Since we brought you the story about Yahoo! sex clubs targeting KingdomBuy.com, a Christian online mall, Wal-Mart has joined the list of retailers ending and then re-instating their relationship with the site.

At the time of Wal-Mart’s termination, company officials told KingdomBuy.com president Gary Sutton they were “backing away from all religiously affiliated Web sites.” Then the retailer quickly reversed itself and linked its online store with Sutton’s.

Other retailers making the u-turn back to KingdomBuy.com include Avon.com, and FTD.com. Kingdombuy.com markets a host of secular businesses to Christians by returning a portion of a shopper’s invoice total to the church or ministry of his choice.

Meanwhile, Sutton added that the Mississippi Gay Lobby has joined pornographers in the boycott effort.

“This has grown far beyond the original issues which spurred this boycott. I’m fighting this more now out of principle,” Sutton said. “Corporations have said ‘no’ to any and all Christian philanthropy. This will set a precedent that will affect those coming behind us, that any and all groups can affiliate with businesses for fund raising, except Christians with traditional values.” — MK
