Homosexuality — Not Pedophilia — Is at Center of the Catholic Church Scandal
By Tres Kerns ABC News aired a one-hour special April 3 about the “Crisis in the Catholic Church,” portraying it as a pedophilia problem rather than a male homosexual problem. ABC briefly talked about homosexuality in the church, but avoided identifying it as the main problem and only interviewed liberal Catholics who do not acknowledge any connection between homosexuality and male child molestation. Upwards of 90 percent of the molestations in the Church are situations in which homosexual priests sexually abuse teen-age boys, yet somehow ABC managed to miss the homosexual angle. The ABC special came just two days after the network’s own Barbara Walters accepted an award for “TV Journalism” from a homosexual activist media watchdog group, GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). Walters, the anchor on ABC News’ 20/20, received a standing ovation from the GLAAD audience and said, “We have done a great many programs about gays and lesbians … We hope that we've opened some minds — and if they're not open, we just don't care anymore.” Here are some facts dealing with man-boy eroticism and the American homosexual movement: - The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) is the only nationwide organized pedophilia group in America, and homosexuals run it.
- Newsweek magazine on March 19, 2001 released a story on Internet child pornography and pedophiles saying, “They often believe that their victims [children] don’t really suffer.” The article describes a male camp counselor who was selling over the Internet more than a thousand images of boys engaged in homosexual acts.
- Salon.com, a pro-homosexual online magazine, said in a 2000 article about Alfred Kinsey, the most influential sexologist of all time, that Kinsey’s “perhaps most enduring legacy as a sexologist was his campaign on behalf of homosexuals. He almost single-handedly laid the foundations for gay liberation, decrying anti-sodomy laws as early as the 1940s and advocating tolerance for pederasts [homosexual men who pursue sex with boys].” A 1997 biography by James Jones, Alfred C. Kinsey: A Public/Private Life, revealed that Kinsey was a promiscuous homosexual with a taste for masochism. Kinsey also said that any sex between males, regardless of age, was homosexual in nature.
- At the Millennium March on Washington in 2000, homosexual groups held a youth pride event in Dupont Circle, the homosexual district in D.C. Organizers felt it necessary to erect signs asking the adult homosexuals not to have sex with youths.
- Sports Illustrated did a special report in 1999 on homosexual molestation in boys’ athletics and reported, “These [homosexual] sex offenders will molest more children than any other type. Anywhere from 12 to 500 or 600 boys.”
- The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on December 2, 1998, released a study on “Male Child Sexual Abuse.” The article reviewed more than 150 medical reports over 12 years and estimated that 1 in 5 boys is a victim of sexual assault and that boys molested by men were 7 times more like to identify themselves as homosexual or bisexual as adults.
- In 1994, Harry Hay (credited as founder of the modern day “gay rights” movement) spoke at a NAMBLA conference giving “an inspiring talk about reclaiming for the 1990’s the spirit of [the] homoerotic [and] sharing the love from various ancient Greek traditions of pederasty.”
- Larry Kramer, founder of ACT-UP, in 1993 stated this about pederasty: “In those instances where children do have sex with their homosexual elders, be they teachers or anyone else, I submit that often, very often, the child desires the activity, and perhaps even solicits it.”
- In 1992, a homosexual newspaper, the San Francisco Sentinel, published a column that asserted this: “The love between men and boys is the foundation of homosexuality. For the gay community to imply that boy-love is not homosexual love is ridiculous…. Child molesting does occur, but there are also positive sexual relations. And we need to support the men and the boys in those relationships.”
- In 1973, a guide entitled “Where the Young Ones Are” was published in the United States giving information about where homosexual men could find boy prostitutes.
- In 1972, the homosexual movement’s first national platform included as a goal the “repeal of all laws governing the age of consent,” throughout America.
- David Thorstad, a self-identified pederast, was one of the founders of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and later helped formed NAMBLA.
- Homosexuals have posted a web site that details state age of consent laws in America and around the world. The page has a link to “Cool Teen Sites.”
ABC News and the Catholic Church need to expose the lie that homosexuality and young men mix well together. The Catholic Church should follow basic Biblical principles that teach that homosexuality is not an identity, but a sin, and that homosexual men and lesbians cannot be in positions of authority in the Church, or in Catholic schools. ABC’s credibility as an objective news source is falling fast. Unless they stop whitewashing the homosexual movement, their reputation will continue to slide, as Americans will come to see that the liberal media—to paraphrase Barbara Walters—“just doesn’t care anymore.” Kerns is a founder and executive director of the Citizens for Parents’ Rights in Maryland, and co-founder of TakeBackMaryland.org.
